Morocco. Two steps to the country
A beautiful and amazing country of Morocco, where it is not customary to sunbathe lying on the beach, and every Moroccan grandmother speaks French.
However, having arrived in the country in the city of Agadir, you will not see a tenth of Moroccan beauties. Having stayed here at the hotel, you can buy a bus tour to the city of Marrokes and Essaouira. You will have to get to other major cities, such as Casablanca or Fes, by plane, since there are a lot of domestic flights offered. Or, as an option, you can rent a car.
This is a country of friendly, smiling people, however, when visiting Morocco on Ramadan, you should be sensitive to religious beliefs: do not wear open shirts, short shorts.Moroccans are a rather conservative people, but young people dress quite European. The official language is Arabic, however, French is also widely spoken, and in the northern part of the country – Spanish. But only hotel staff speak English, so a French phrasebook will come in handy for explaining with sellers in the market and in small cafes.
Morocco Agadir is nowadays recognized as the most hospitable and popular resort in Morocco. What is the reason? Or 15 kilometers of a fantastic beach, which has the whole complex of modern entertainment: diving, surfing, and boat trips, and it is not clear what. Whether it is surprisingly successful weather: almost the whole year (except for a couple of months) there is a golden summer – the cool Canary current complete with seasonal winds will provide you with a comfortable rest and simply enchanting tan.
However, Agadir is known not only as a resort city. Since the XVII century, when a small village due to its favorable territorial position turns into a large Portuguese port, Agradir attracts gold and spices dealers. The city is blooming, being built. It is possible that now we would have a real architectural pearl on the coast of Morocco, if not for the tragedy of 1960 – a terrible earthquake had almost completely destroyed the ancient settlement. The lesson was understood and rethought. On the one hand, the new construction took into account the possibility of repeated earthquakes, on the other hand, it was decided not to revive the old city, but to build a new one – a recreation and entertainment center on the coast.
Morocco, street In Agadir it is worth visiting the port where the fish market is located, the City bath – hammam, walk along the beach, ride a tourist train in the center. Perhaps the largest port in Morocco is located in Agadir. But another thing is interesting – thanks to him, the largest fish market in the world arose here. That’s where you can certainly try any food! The city has several municipal museums, but you need to focus, first of all, on its resort orientation. For fans of surfing equipment can be rented directly on the city beach. The ski season is the second half of September and October.
Agadir is perhaps the most successful city to start traveling around the country. It has its own airport and from here the main tourist routes in Morocco begin: 173 km to the north and you are in Essaouira – a fortified city, the most bohemian place in Morocco; 70 km to the south – and here it is Tiznit, the center of jewelry art of Morocco surprisingly preserved by its national color, 279 km to the north-east and before you is ancient Marrakesh.
Morocco, Marrakech street is one of the oldest cities in the country, to which, by the way, it owes its name. The city arose here in the XI century as a buffer zone for controlling the pass through the Atlas Mountains. Unlike Agadir, the city has well preserved its historical appearance – there is a dopey of the 16th century, and a mausoleum of the 17th century, and some buildings in the center, according to historians, date back to the time the city was founded.
You need to see Marrakesh with your own eyes – after all, this is a real masterpiece of the Spanish-Moorish culture, but we will only briefly list the main attractions that can not be missed.
The central and oldest square of the city is Jamaa El Fna. The very center of the ancient city. Only here you can see the whole flavor of Morocco in one place: tarot fortune tellers and interpreters of the Koran, acrobats and jesters, national clothes and local dialect, sellers of everything and everything.
In the central square, the mosque of Cattubia is also located – the symbol of Marrakesh, listed in the UNESCO cultural heritage list. Built at the beginning of the 12th century, it still operates.
Morocco, streetMuseum of Yusuf. One of the oldest and well-preserved buildings of Marrakech (and built almost 5 centuries ago). Historically became the main school for studying the Koran in the Maghreb. The mausoleum, by the way, is interesting, first of all, for its interior – here is the Moorish mosaic, and white marble and cedar wood.
