Popular resorts in Tunisia and their attractions
Monastir is a quiet Mediterranean town. It is perfect for a family holiday at sea: the climate is mild, which is especially valuable if you are traveling with young children, as well as clean, well-groomed and equipped with all the necessary beaches. Monastir is a favorite place for divers, as magical grottoes hide in the depths of the sea and exotic fauna splashes. But Monastir is not only a beach holiday. There are many attractions worth taking the time to do. The Museum of Islamic Art holds old manuscripts, fabrics and glassware. The main historical attraction is the ruins of the Rabat Hartem fortress.
After cultural enlightenment, you can enjoy traditional Tunisian cuisine in one of the many restaurants and bars in the city center.
Hammamet is one of the oldest seaside resorts in Tunisia, which has 14 kilometers of beaches, a water park, thalassotherapy centers, one of which is Bio Azur, the fourth largest in the world. Hammamet is the cradle of Tunisian tourism, perhaps the country’s most Europeanized city. High-class hotels, many restaurants, clubs and shops are built here, there is also a large amusement park.
Nabeul is another resort town whose highlight is pottery. Amazing ceramics are sold everywhere – vases, plates, pots, house walls are decorated with intricate home-made ceramic plates, and shop windows are everywhere decorated with pots and vases of different colors. Go shopping at the Souq al-Jumah Market. In addition to pottery, magnificent fabrics, leather products, perfumes and paintings, and, of course, aromatic herbs, spices and dates are sold here.
Nabeul is located just 16 kilometers from Hammamet, so if you are bored with a calm, measured rest in the capital of pottery, the best solution would be to go there.
Mahdia is a fishing resort town with beautiful clean beaches and clear sea water. If you do not mind combining a lazy beach holiday with educational excursions, then Mahdia is an excellent choice. There is something to see here besides sea waves, for example, the Museum of Islamic Culture and the Museum of Silk-weaving.
Each Tunisian city has its own zest, so first of all, think about what type of vacation you prefer. Mahdia and Nabeul is a calm and measured rest, Hammamet is a city where people go to combine a beach vacation with wellness treatments, Sousse is a center of casinos and night clubs.
